How is the AP Biology Exam Scored?

The AP Biology exam score is a weighted combination of your results from two sections: Multiple Choice (MCQ) and Free Response (FRQ).

1. Multiple Choice Section (50%)

This section consists of 60 questions. Each question is worth approximately 1 point. There is no penalty for guessing, so it is crucial to answer every question.

2. Free Response Section (50%)

This section includes 2 long questions (worth 10 points each) and 4 short questions (worth 4 points each), totaling 50 raw points. This raw score is multiplied to match the weight of the MCQ section.

AP Score Scale

• 5 (Extremely Well Qualified): Typically requires a composite score of 92-120.
• 4 (Well Qualified): Typically requires a composite score of 73-91.
• 3 (Qualified): Typically requires a composite score of 54-72.
• 2 (Possibly Qualified): 35-53.
• 1 (No Recommendation): 0-34.
