How the AP Chemistry Score is Calculated
The AP Chemistry exam is divided into two sections, each accounting for 50% of your final grade. Our calculator uses the standard College Board weighting to estimate your score.
- Section I (Multiple Choice): 60 questions, 90 minutes. Counts for 50% of the total score.
- Section II (Free Response): 7 questions (3 Long, 4 Short), 105 minutes. Counts for 50% of the total score.
Score Breakdown (Approximate)
While the curve varies slightly by year, here is the general composite score range for each AP Grade:
- 5: 79 - 100 points
- 4: 64 - 78 points
- 3: 45 - 63 points
- 2: 28 - 44 points
